La historia de Agustina Milutinovic
Esta pilarense nunca imaginó que haber sido una buena alumna en inglés durante el secundario le abriría las puertas del mundo. Empezaba la primavera del 2010. Agustina tenía 24 años, vivía en el centro de Pilar, estaba a punto de terminar la carrera de Ciencias Políticas y trabajaba en la actual Subsecretaría de Producción de la Municipalidad del Pilar. Allí, además de realizar tareas administrativas, su principal función era RSE (responsabilidad social empresarial).En eso estaba cuando recibió un pedido para que oficiara de traductora en la visita que la Doctora Indu Shahani, la directora de HR College, un prestigioso colegio de la India, realizó a la sede de la UBA que funciona en el Instituto Carlos Pellegrini dePilar, con la presencia de la Secretaria de Educación, Cultura e Integración, profesora María del Carmen Rodríguez de Zúccaro.
Gracias a su gran nivel de inglés, a sus conocimientos generales y a su actitud, en el encuentro recibió una invitación que nadie podría rechazar: el 100% de una beca, incluyendo matrícula y alojamiento, para estudiar Licenciatura en Administración de Empresas en S P Jain School of Global Management, cursando dos años en Singapur y otros dos en Australia.
Lo que vino después fue un sacudón: al día siguiente recibió, como apoyo por parte del municipio, una carta de recomendación del Intendente Humberto Zúccaro, entrevistas vía Skype y mil trámites que a los pocos días pusieron a Agustina en un avión rumbo a su gran aventura.
Nada fue igual
La comida, las costumbres, las maneras de ver el mundo… por cuatro años Agustina vivió en otro mundo. “Lo más increíble fue convivir en la facultad con 50 estudiantes de 20 nacionalidades distintas. China, Corea, Estados Unidos, Malasia, Brasil, Inglaterra… y para colmo nos hacían cambiar de compañero de cuarto constantemente”, cuenta recordando su estadía en este pequeño e impecable país del sudeste asiático.
Así fue como Agustina -que había vivido un tiempo en Pilar centro y otro en Golfer´s, estudiado en el tradicional colegio Bluebell y amante de compartir buenas medialunas con sus amigas- aprendió a disfrutar de la comida india con la mano y a no sorprenderse por la prohibición de comer chicle, vigente en Singapur para locales y visitantes.
Luego, los estudios continuaron por dos años en Sydney. Y allí, el motivo del asombro fue la cantidad de inmigración china instalada en la ciudad más poblada de Australia debido a los numerosos pactos comerciales que tiene con este país.
Así como ella nunca podrá olvidar haber conocido al Taj Mahal -el mausoleo construido por amor y convertido hoy en una de las maravillas del mundo moderno-, tampoco podrá dejar pasar el día que conoció a Yoko Ono, la viuda de John Lennon. Esa anécdota es una prueba de que Agustina tiene suerte y un destino que la espera. Estando en Sydney se enteró que la artista japonesa realizaría una exhibición en la Ópera y compartió la información a través de Twitter. Ocurrió, otra vez, lo increíble. El Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Australia le mandó una invitación para compartir la instalación nada menos que con Yoko Ono.
¿No hubo dificultades? ¿Obstáculos? Sí, muchos, sobre todo económicos. Aunque tenía los estudios y el alojamiento cubiertos, los dos destinos eran carísimos. Pero, según Agustina, nada que no se pudiera resolver dedicando los fines de semana a trabajar de moza.
También la distancia con los seres queridos, más de una vez jugó en contra, en particular en fechas especiales. “Hace cuatro años que no festejo ni Navidad ni Año Nuevo. Ni hablar de los cumpleaños. Culturalmente, en los lugares donde estuve no se les da importancia a estas celebraciones que, en la Argentina, nos anima a reunirnos y compartir con los que queremos”.
Quizás por eso y por todo lo que Agustina hoy con 28 años todavía está procesando, dice con firmeza que aunque estará agradecida siempre por la increíble posibilidad que le dio la vida, su opción nunca fue quedarse.
Sin dudas, la experiencia resultó ser un shock cultural del que se vuelve, pero transformado. “Se abrieron un montón de oportunidades que nunca me hubiera imagino que me podían tocar trabajando desde el municipio”, afirma. Sin embargo, acá está, recién llegada, superando el jet lag que la hace empezar su día a las 2 de la madrugada y amortizando el impacto de una experiencia tan fuerte. Una vez más, Agustina tiene frente a sus ojos un mundo de oportunidades.
