15 de junio Día Internacional de la Toma de Conciencia del Abuso y Maltrato en la Vejez
La Red de Adultos Mayores de Escobar
conmemorará el día de la toma de conciencia
del maltrato y abuso a adultos mayores
La Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas, en su resolución 66/127, designa el 15 de junio como Día Mundial de Toma de Conciencia de Abuso y Maltrato en la Vejez. En este día, se promueven actividades para manifestar la decisión de eliminar toda forma de violencia, discriminación y maltrato contra las personas de la tercera edad, una problemática sobre la que debemos estar atentos porque afecta a toda la sociedad.
Proyecto Surcos se sumará a esta iniciativa con la realización de un Taller sobre Prevención de la violencia hacia las personas mayores el próximo miércoles 18 de junio a las 10.30 hs. en el Club Social y Recreativo para la tercera edad de Matheu, sito en la calle Nazarre 99.
El maltrato hacia las personas mayores es un problema social mundial que afecta la salud y los Derechos Humanos de millones de personas mayores en todo el mundo y merece la atención de la comunidad internacional.
Se estima que en 2025 la población mundial de personas de 60 años o más será de 1.200 millones, más del doble que en 1995. En muchos países, el envejecimiento de la población es rápido. Es por esto que este sector merece nuestra especial atención.
Se estima que entre el 4% y el 6% de las personas mayores de todo el mundo han sufrido alguna forma de abuso y maltrato. El maltrato de las personas de edad puede llevar a graves lesiones físicas y tener consecuencias psicológicas a largo plazo. Se considera maltrato a los adultos mayores, al trato indebido o negligente a una persona mayor por otra persona que le cause daño o lo exponga al riesgo de sufrir daño a su salud, su bienestar o sus bienes.
Se invita a quienes quieran participar de la actividad a acercarse el próximo miércoles 18 a las 10.30hs. al Centro de Jubilados de la calle Nazarre 99 en Matheu. Como todas las actividades llevadas adelante por Proyecto Surcos, será gratuita y abierta a todos aquellos que quieran participar.
