El sueño se hizo realidad: Abrió sus puertas el merendero Doña Mary de Beccar
Inflables coloridos en Riobamba 1536 y música festiva indicaban que la fiesta era en esa casa con rejas negras y ladrillo a la vista, con olor a pintura fresca, decorada con banderines y globos de muchos colores y alegres flores, con la merienda lista para ser servida a los niños del barrio por un gran equipo solidario.
Eran las 4 de la tarde del sábado 7 de mayo y ya todo estaba preparado para la gran fiesta de inauguración en Beccar, empezaban a llegar los primeros chicos y así nacía de a poco el Merendero Doña Mary en honor a Doña Mary, una vecina de 75 años de Beccar que soñaba con abrir las puertas de su casa y convertirla en un espacio para los niños.
Doña Mary y su hija Ester entre lágrimas de felicidad y risas cómplices cortaron la cinta anaranjada que cercaba el portón de ingreso al merendero, dando por inaugurado el espacio tan soñado. Aplausos de los presentes y los flashes de las cámaras fotográficas inmortalizaron el emotivo momento.
Entre juegos y tazas de chocolate caliente con facturas, tortas, cupcakes y sándwich de miga los niños de entre 5 y 10 años comenzaron a conocer lo que de aquí en más será su lugar de encuentro y recreación cada fin de semana. Asistieron más de 40 niños vecinos que en semanas anteriores la dueña de casa, Doña Mary junto a su hija Ester censaron extensas manzanas del barrio, conocieron a los chicos, sus padres y los invitaron a ser parte del nuevo merendero de Beccar.
Como si se tratase de un hijo, durante 9 meses se gestó el proyecto y muchas organizaciones sociales participaron para hacer posible el sueño de Doña Mary: Transformando Caminos con Gabriela Camino, Bonjoveros Voluntarios con Silvia Palermo, Cadena solidaria con Nanu Holmberg,Las manos que ayudan con Patricia Atillio y Claudia Fabeiro y Luciano tu mano solidaria con Ester Portillo, hija de Doña Mary e impulsora del proyecto junto con todo el equipo.
Ester comenzó su actividad solidaria de la mano del fans club del cantante Luciano Pereyra, entre el amor por la música y el deseo de ayudar a quien más necesita surgió a poco menos de un año Luciano tu mano solidaria. En sus inicios se comprometieron con la causa Un tobbi para Antonella, una joven de 23 años que padece parálisis cerebral y necesita un control por vista (tobii) para comunicarse con mayor facilidad y así mejorar su calidad de vida.
“Es un sueño hecho realidad, gracias a todos lo que hicieron posible esto” expresaba sonriente Ester, mientras su madre disfrutaba de la algarabía y las caritas felices de los niños.
El festejo continuó hasta la caída del sol, cuando llegó el momento de la torta y la entrega de juguetes donados por las madrinas del Merendero, Silvia Palermo y Gabriela Camino. Los chicos con sus juguetes, golosinas y souvenirs se iban felices a sus casas, con la ilusión de regresar el próximo sábado cuando Doña Mary, abra nuevamente las puertas de su hogar: El Merendero Doña Mary para prepararles su merienda como cada fin de semana.
